We recently welcomed lady Penelopes beautiful daug We recently welcomed lady Penelopes beautiful daughter ! It was quite a long labour and Penelope was quite tired afterwards. It’s around lady Penelopes 7th or 8th baby and we are hoping that she can stop having babies and have a rest!! And we are not giving up the hope that we can keep them both with us . In the meantime we are honoured that we have had the pleasure of giving Lady Penelope freedom , good food and exercise these past 4 months which we truly believe has helped her during this pregnancy and delivery . #babydonkey #donkeysofinstagram #babyanimals #proudmother #mothers #happy #congratulations #hvarisland

Pano in particular loves shaking things around . Before Romeo left us for donkey heaven he and Pano often played pulling the boot . Lady Penelope. She isn’t my donkey but she’s t Lady Penelope. She isn’t my donkey but she’s the mother of two of mine . Her life is spent tied to a tree but every now and then I ask if I can take her for a holiday… I really hoped I could try to buy her this time . She’s about to give birth again … babies are either sold or killed for meat . There is little animal welfare on this island ( for big animals ) , no inspections at all and various uneducated owners who don’t even know donkey basics . I’ve had Lady Penelope for 3 months now but owners are asking for her back as she and her soon to be due baby will stand by the restaurant as a tourist attraction 🙀 . It’s extra work looking after Penelope with all my other jobs but I make time and love my time with her . She’s getting older and has had many babies so im getting her fit and giving her the right food . Donkeys are nit meant to stuff themselves with grass all day it will make them obese and create many health issues! They are not your grass cutters ! Here’s some of Lady Penelope’s journey from when I took her 3 months ago from a mud bath stuck in with the sheep . Penelope is the mother of the very first donkey I got ( pano was going to be killed for meat as a baby ) so I have a lot to thank her for . The hay comes from the mainland and the guys throw it off the truck fast so they can get back on the ferry ! It has taken me 2 months to be able to write that we had to say an unexpected goodbye to our dear Romeo at the end of august , He was only around 6 years old and was unexpectedly taken from us with what we think was colic . No words can describe our loss. Romeo was the sweetest most gentle boy who we will never forget . Rest in peace my love .
